Stay Tough

Hi, everyone! This is a preppy look with a tougher edge. It is always nice to include different elements in your outfits. We have a few repeat pieces from the past posts. Obviously we do not have the biggest wardrobe in the world, so it is really important for us to mix and match and put together different looks using the limited pieces.

We can already feel the spring breeze here in Hong Kong (and inevitably, the humidity), and we believe some spring shopping is in order for a whole new wardrobe :)

HALCYON.

Hey guys! As you can see, we're trying to do a grungier look here. We love trying out different styles and a change once in a while is awesome. This is a darker look from what we put together usually and it's altogether a rather different style, more of an edgier grunge, street-wise. We are aiming for a dark lip for this outfit and we used Diva by MAC. Tell us what you think of the outfit!

black beanie - h&m
round sunnies - h&m
grey tee - junk food
dots shirt - Monica's mum
denim shorts
worn white 8-eye boots - doc martens

We're thinking about going to the Born This Way Ball Starring Lady Gaga in May and we are supposed to dress to "ball". Would be nice to adopt a similar kind of look, but more dramatic, don't you think? ;)
Check the outfit out on lookbook.nu ! New post coming very soon x

Cloud 9

It's still really cold in Hong Kong, but it's definitely getting more humid - spring is coming and we're psyched to rebuild our s/s wardrobes! This is a casual spring look you might want to try out for yourselves. We paired items of different shades of earth, namely the fuzzy tan beanie, the oatmeal scarf and the brown tee. With the usual pair of denim shorts and some classic Converse sneakers, we're ready to go :)

oatmeal scarf - h&m
brown tee - forever 21
high-waisted denim shorts
black sneakers - converse

By the way: we're using a new lipstick here! Ellie got it in Korea and it's Diva by M.A.C. It's a really dark lipstick and it tends to give looks a dramatic finish. We aren't looking for an extremely dark shade here, so we blended it with a classic red lipstick from Make Up Forever. Our makeup collection is growing constantly and when we've got the chance we will show you guys :)
We hope you guys like the new look! Do tell us what you think. More coming up! x

Sentiments

Our apologies for not posting in an extremely long while! Schoolwork is getting the better of us (Hong Kong students fight a losing battle against time famine every day). Nevertheless we squeezed some time in for a photoshoot and we've got awesome outfits lined up to show you guys :)
Basically this is a super casual outfit for one of those weekends when you don't feel like dressing up too much. We are not attracted to the idea of looking like a complete mess, so we're trying to put the cool in to sloppy. Nothing goes wrong with a cozily familiar tee and some comfy shoes, especially when it's so bitterly cold like right now in HK.

Hope you guys like the look! Do tell us what you think. See you soon x

Dippin' Dots

Our approach to fashion is not unlike Dippin' Dots ice-cream - "unique, futuristic and fun" lol. We fell in love with this printed blouse which is gorgeously scattered with bite-size dots and we had to show you guys. Besides we featured another piece from the "Home Comfort" look and it's this darling pair of loafers. They come in a great color, great price and they're so comfortable.

We still haven't thanked everyone properly for all your amazing support! You might've noticed that we've reached 100 fans on lookbook.nu recently and we are absolutely thrilled, because someone somewhere out there is appreciating what we've done. Some might not consider this a remarkable feat, but this means A LOT to us, especially since we've not been blogging for long and we're practically babies. I promise we will keep up with the good work and we really hope to receive your continual support! So thank you very very much for being a part of our little success.
We love you at An Apparel Affair ;) x

Denim in Plural

It's been a while since our last look, but it's okay, we didn't die or something. Ellie went to Korea and things slowed down a bit. School is extremely near and as usual we, like the normal sound-minded students we are, still haven't completed our assignments and is dreading the first day back. More school means potentially less blogging and that is a most undesirable circumstance. Anyways..

We've been trying different styles out and we came across the matter of denim, so we thought, why not rough it up a little and do a denim on denim outfit? Jeans are arguably the most commonplace piece of clothing among us humans nowadays, next to white t-shirts. Here in Hong Kong, you cannot go from one place to another without seeing a hundred crisscrossing pairs of denim-clad legs.
Taking inspiration from the streets of Hong Kong, we paired a pair of classic black Converse sneakers with grayish white jeans. Underneath the denim shirt we've got a dark tee to bring out the lightness of the different shades of denim.

Chinese New Year has always been a festival of great popularity with teenagers because we get to collect "red packets" from married adults, mostly our relatives. "Red packets" contain MONEY. Cash money. It depends on the kindness and wealth of the distributor but if you go lucky you can get maybe HK$100 or even $500 in one packet alone. But you don't go around visiting relatives deliberately to get money - it's a disgrace and it's just plain greedy.
Besides, you still get to have lots of candies and delicious food like the traditional radish cake (it's awesome). Plus it's really nice for everyone in the family to get together and catch up!

So we hope you guys like our new outfit! Please don't hesitate to comment below and tell us what you think :)
