Denim in Plural

It's been a while since our last look, but it's okay, we didn't die or something. Ellie went to Korea and things slowed down a bit. School is extremely near and as usual we, like the normal sound-minded students we are, still haven't completed our assignments and is dreading the first day back. More school means potentially less blogging and that is a most undesirable circumstance. Anyways..

We've been trying different styles out and we came across the matter of denim, so we thought, why not rough it up a little and do a denim on denim outfit? Jeans are arguably the most commonplace piece of clothing among us humans nowadays, next to white t-shirts. Here in Hong Kong, you cannot go from one place to another without seeing a hundred crisscrossing pairs of denim-clad legs.
Taking inspiration from the streets of Hong Kong, we paired a pair of classic black Converse sneakers with grayish white jeans. Underneath the denim shirt we've got a dark tee to bring out the lightness of the different shades of denim.

Chinese New Year has always been a festival of great popularity with teenagers because we get to collect "red packets" from married adults, mostly our relatives. "Red packets" contain MONEY. Cash money. It depends on the kindness and wealth of the distributor but if you go lucky you can get maybe HK$100 or even $500 in one packet alone. But you don't go around visiting relatives deliberately to get money - it's a disgrace and it's just plain greedy.
Besides, you still get to have lots of candies and delicious food like the traditional radish cake (it's awesome). Plus it's really nice for everyone in the family to get together and catch up!

So we hope you guys like our new outfit! Please don't hesitate to comment below and tell us what you think :)

Take Two

Hello everyone! Today is the Lunar New Year. (Happy new year!)
To celebrate the Year of Dragon, we bring you this not-so-festive outfit (LOL).

Here we have the grey sweater that we featured in our Home Comfort post (http://lookbook.nu/look/2638785-Home-Comfort), yet we add a preppy touch to it by pairing it with a white collar, which we detached from an old shirt.
We also put on some striped shorts, which were made by Monica:), some black lace up heels and a classic red lip.

While enjoying our Chinese New Year holidays, the three of us are cramming up outfit ideas. We hope you understand that we cannot upload every single day like the other bloggers do because it is really hard for us to do the 'photoshoot'. Anyway, hope you like this look.

Hype away!

If Only

http://lookbook.nu/look/2937231-If-Only
New look everybody! We love earthy sepia tones with different shades of brown and beige and biscuit, so we put together these garments (most of them are Ellie's) with black and white.
Many of the pieces featured here are wardrobe must-haves as well as bargains, like the white tee and the flimsy black cardigan, because they go with absolutely everything. The black cardigan actually has a Hogwarts school crest patch sewn on it, but we've hidden that (not doing preppy here). The oxford wedges are wonderful - they are not expensive and they are really easy to walk in. The scarf is given to Ellie from her mother and she treats it like an otherworldly treasure. Rightly she should. Finally, the beanies. We bought a set of two (one black, one tan) from H&M for HK$99, cool right? :) They are so fuzzy and warm and they give a great finish to winter outfits.

Blown Away

Greetings fellow fashion addicts!
Were you blown away by the outfit? It's our first spring outfit in a while - can you feel the blossom-perfumed breeze? It's still very cold in Hong Kong, but we decided to freshen things up with a touch of springtime.
The skirt is actually another product of Monica's magnificent DIY projects. She bought the skirt in Bershka originally and it was waaay too long, totally dredging on the floor, so she took up her scissors and worked some miracles over the skirt! We paired the skirt with black garments, and the usual bowler hat, to accentuate the translucent glow of the skirt.
With the Chinese New Year holiday approaching fast, we're going to do some crazy shopping (a lot of thrifty shopping, we're looking for bargains at any time and any place) and get another photoshoot underway in no time at all :)

Snow White

No, not the Disney princess, if that's what you think :)
People tend to go for black and white when they wanna play safe and not take any risks, or just black. Not us. We try to make our outfits edgier and quirkier, even if it is not colorful. You will notice also how we use different shades of white here - the sweater is more of a creamy ivory (it belongs to Ellie, she wore it to the school Christmas party even though it's one size too big). We replaced the monotonous black bandage skirt with a striped one to pull up the contrast. Finally, platform wedges to take us to daring new heights.

Sorry if you disapprove of the head-to-toe H&M, but we just really love the cheap yet crazy-wonderful stuff in there :) This condition will gradually improve as the Forever 21 flagship store is gonna open later this month. Needless to say we physically cannot wait to get our hands on new clothes! That means more outfit posts too :D

We hope you like this outfit (hype away!) and thank you!
Chinese New Year holiday coming up woohoo! xoxo

Whole Wheats

Hello fellow fashion addicts :)
New fall look here, we hope you like every bit of it! We've rooted out some great finds from H&M and put together this outfit. We love this sepia-tinged, coffee-stained and earth-toned sort of shade on a fall outfit - it matches perfectly with the crisply golden (like a ripe apple) weather and the fallen leaves.

Today is actually a big day for the members of An Apparel Affair. The three of us went to LPC United World College for an aptitude test. (Damn it was just treacherous.) So, good luck to us, I hope we can scrape a pass and proceed with the admission process.

We will see you again soon! xoxo
Assuming we don't die of exhaustion from school, that is.
